Review: Panera Bread’s Additive-Free Menu

On Tuesday, The DA Eats team reviewed several of Panera Bread’s preservative-free menu items, including the Kitchen Sink cookie and the Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt.

We had an overall positive experience, and there were several foods we tried that we agreed would now be our go-to meals at Panera. However, we wanted to know more about Panera Bread’s mission to provide “clean” food for each of its customers.

Review: Café Evansdale’s Christmas Dinner

Café Evansdale has yet to disappoint in their annual holiday celebration meals, and their Christmas dinner on Dec. 8 was no exception.

Christmas meals in West Virginia public schools are typically no more than a sad piece of turkey, gelatinous gravy, dry mashed potatoes and overcooked green beans, so I had no idea what to expect from one held by a university dining hall.

However, I felt like I was transported to a high-class restaurant as soon as I walked in.

Yesterday three of West Virginia University’s dining halls served spooky menu items like mummy dogs, ghost brains and breaded guts to students. Food workers sported their best costumes throughout the day, and festive decorations ushered in the chilly autumn weather.

Review: 100-Mile Dinner at Café Evansdale

Most dining hall events are limited to simple holiday-themed snacks and decorations. However, Café Evansdale flipped that idea on its head with its third annual 100-Mile Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 13. The dining hall created an entire menu from ingredients sourced from within 100 miles of Morgantown, which included dishes such as fried cabbage and noodles, smoked pork loin and maple chicken.

 

The DA Eats team visited Café Evansdale to see how its dishes stood up to normal dining hall fare. In short, we were simply blown away by the amount of care and effort put into the meal.
